- [Golden Millet Dream (from the story of a poor scholar who dreamt that he had become a high official but awoke to find only the pot of millet still cooking on the fire);pipe dream] 比喻虚幻的梦想。典出唐.沈既济《枕中记》，说卢生在梦中享尽了荣华富贵，醒来时，蒸的黄粱米饭尚未熟，只落得一场空
- 唐 沉既济 《枕中记》载： 卢生 在 邯郸 客店遇道士 吕翁 ，生自叹穷困，翁探囊中枕授之曰：枕此当令子荣适如意。时主人正蒸黄粱，生梦入枕中，享尽富贵荣华。及醒，黄粱尚未熟，怪曰：“岂其梦寐耶？”翁笑曰：“人世之事亦犹是矣。”后因以“黄粱梦”喻虚幻的事和不能实现的欲望。
宋 范成大 《邯郸道》诗：“困来也作黄粱梦，不梦封侯梦 石湖 。” 清 褚人穫 《坚瓠八集·十空曲》：“华表铭旌断送黄粱梦，君看盖世功名总是空。”《人民文学》1981年第4期：“如同黄粱梦般的一现一闪。”亦作“ 黄粱一梦 ”。 元 范康 《竹叶舟》第一折：“﹝ 吕巖 ﹞因应举不第，道经 邯郸 ，得遇 正阳子 师父，点化黄粱一梦，遂成仙道。”《四游记·东华传道锺离》：“曾见万古以来，江山有何常主，富贵有何定数？转眼异形，犹之黄粱一梦耳。”
